Payroll Accountant | Limassol, Cyprus

Experience
We’re looking for a Payroll Accountant with strong payroll experience and a solid understanding of management accounting. This is a role for someone who can independently manage payroll for a large team, ensure accurate accounting treatment, and support management reporting processes.

You will be responsible for the full payroll cycle for up to 300 employees, including salary calculations, annual leave, bonuses, sick leave, taxes, social contributions and final salary calculations upon termination. The role also involves ensuring correct payroll accounting entries, preparing payroll-related reports and reconciliations, interacting with local authorities, and supporting management reporting, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow data. This position requires practical payroll experience in Cyprus and the ability to work with a high volume of data, strict deadlines and confidential information.
About the company and the project:
Your tasks
Calculate monthly payroll for up to 300 employees, including salaries, annual leave, bonuses, sick leave, taxes and deductions. Ensure accurate payroll accounting and proper reflection of payroll expenses in the accounting system.

Calculate taxes and social contributions for Cyprus-based employees. Prepare and submit payroll-related statutory reports in accordance with Cyprus legislation.

Work with PAYE, Social Insurance, GESY/GHS, employer contributions and other payroll-related obligations. Prepare payroll reports, payroll reconciliations and salary-related journal entries.

Handle different payment structures, including fixed salaries, hourly pay, bonuses, commissions, overtime, allowances, reimbursements and contractor payments. Participate in management reporting, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow preparation.

Support payroll cost allocation by department, project or cost centre. Prepare accruals, monthly management reports and budget vs actual analysis.

Prepare payroll and accounting data for auditors. Communicate with the Social Insurance Department and Tax Office when required.

Advantages
Requirements
3–5+ years of experience as an Accountant / Payroll Accountant. Mandatory hands-on experience with independent payroll calculation for a team of at least 300 employees.

Strong knowledge of payroll in Cyprus, including gross/net salary, PAYE, Social Insurance, GESY/GHS, employer contributions, bonuses, deductions, sick leave, annual leave, unpaid leave and final salary calculation upon termination.

Understanding of local Cyprus tax benefits, exemptions and payroll-related tax treatment. Practical experience working with the Social Insurance Department and Tax Office.

Experience preparing and submitting payroll declarations and forms, including IR7 and IR1. Experience with payroll reports, payroll reconciliations and payroll accounting entries.

Understanding of management accounting: cost allocation, department/project payroll cost split, accruals, monthly management reports and budget vs actual analysis.

Advanced Excel skills, Russian language is required. Experience with accounting and payroll software.

Nice to Have: Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field; ACCA or LCCI qualification would be an advantage; Experience working in an international company; Experience supporting audits and preparing payroll data for external auditors.
